.NET Lead Engineer

Twipe is a mediatech scale-up based in Leuven, Belgium working with leading newspaper publishers in Europe and the US to grow their digital subscribers and sustain quality journalism. We offer cloud based digital edition publishing, analytics, and personalization solutions. Our innovative solutions accelerate the growth of newspapers including Le Monde, The Telegraph and DuMont.

Why are we hiring?

We are scaling our backend platform to support the next generation of growth, performance, and reliability. As a Lead .NET Engineer, you will take technical ownership of our .NET backend, shaping its architecture and engineering standards while remaining hands-on in the code. You will lead technical decisions, tackle complex engineering challenges, and mentor the team to build scalable, maintainable, and high-quality software.

What do you do? 

• Take technical ownership of our .NET backend, including architecture, system design, performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Stay hands-on in the code, contributing to complex features and solving challenging technical problems.

• Lead technical decisions and establish engineering best practices across the backend.

• Collaborate with Product, Customer Success, and fellow engineers to design, build, test, and deploy high-quality solutions.

• Coach and mentor backend engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.

• Ensure our codebase remains clean, maintainable, well-tested, and well-documented.

• Drive integrations with external systems, including authentication, authorization, APIs, and content distribution.

Your track record:

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with strong expertise in .NET/C#.

• A Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

• Experience taking technical ownership of backend systems and driving architectural and design decisions.

• A track record of mentoring engineers, leading code reviews, and raising engineering standards within a team.

• Experience building and evolving large, complex systems with high availability, scalability, and performance requirements.

• Strong experience with relational databases and cloud platforms.

• Familiarity with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices.

• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, secure coding practices (OWASP), automated testing, and maintainable software design.
